The woman has been named locally as Lorna Carty.

THE GAA WORLD in Meath was coming to terms this evening with the news that Lorna Carty was killed in an attack in Tunisia today.

A nurse and mother of two, she was heavily involved with Dunderry GAA club and her son Simon is currently a member of the Meath Senior Football panel.

Simon was also corner-back on the Meath U21 football team who lost last year’s Leinster final to Dublin while her husband Declan is the current treasurer of Dunderry GAA club.

As a mark of respect to the Carty family, local radio station LMFM is reporting the upcoming senior and junior hurling games between Dunderry and Navan O’Mahonys have been cancelled.
